Grant Allert, bass-baritone - selected biography

Grant has been engaged regularly by the Canadian Opera Company, where he performed the roles of the German father in Britten’s Death in Venice, Eye and Guard 1 in Ruder’s A Handmaid’s Tale, and was an understudy for Colline in La Bohème and Snug in A Mid Summer Night’s Dream. He has enjoyed being a member of the COC chorus since 2000 and continues to sing with the COC.

Other selected professional credits include: Dulcamara in The Elixir of Love, Sarastro in The Magic Flute, Bartolo in The Marriage of Figaro, Jimmy in Mahagonny Songspiel, Carl Olsen in Street Scene, Theseus & Snug in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Crespel & Luther in The Tales of Hoffmann, Rocco in Fidelio & Don Diegue in Le Cid. He also has many years of experience as a paid section lead and soloist in church choral music at various churches in the GTA.
